"Our room was good ( but that is because it was the Dickens Suite) the rest of the hotel was pretty much deserted, reception was manned, but the bar was empty, the front rooms where empty and the hotel looked tired, which is a shame since it could be fantastic, excellent location with plenty of parking, historic building, could be made to have stunning sitting area by the fire, bar and restaurant in the front and boutique rooms, shame"

"Large room, lots of parking, great breakfast. 5 minute walk to the Racetrack, 20-25 minutes to town."

"We booked a room with an accessible bathroom for two nights. There was no shower curtain when we arrived and we were told that ours was sent out for cleaning. Same story the second night and only offered us extra bath rugs to help sop up the excess water from the bathroom floor. They did not offer to allow us to shower in the hotel spa, but agreed only after we asked. There were hundreds of dead bugs on the window sill, which the housekeeper came up to remove. In the middle of the room there was a hole in the carpet. This was a very expensive hotel and spa that fell far below expectations and not worth the cost in our opinion."

"Lovely stay overall- had evening meal overlooking river which was really nice- breakfast good. Rooms slightly tired but all ok for a short stay. Would recommend overall"

"Staff are ok, hotel needs updating. Rooms are dated, bathroom needs a good clean, didn’t like the hair in the plug in the bath. Beds and pillows are comfortable. Bar area not clean, lack of staff willing to service. Food ok, definitely reheated. Breakfast was ok, but they need to tell you it’s not just full English for £9.95 and provide the menu on check-in. Young lady on breakfast provided an excellent service, although tables not cleaned, no cutlery, napkins, cups or glasses. Had to ask for everything. Really understand why the Premier Inn and Ramada was full, definitely better planning next time and look at reviews. "
