"Initial room smelled like someone had been cooking food in it so we were given a second room. Second room had obviously not been used in quite some time as there was dust on the nightstand. There was no body wash in the dispenser. There were four of us staying in the room yet there was only two sets of towels in the bathroom. Both double beds were very uncomfortable and mattresses were worn out. There were mold spots on the ceiling in the bathroom and peeling paint. The bathroom light switch to enter the was filthy. I had to kill a fairly large bug with my book while sitting in the bathroom. The filtered in the ice machines needed to be changed per the unit itself. Carpet in the hallways was cut or worn or stretched out. The location, although convenient for getting two and from the airport, Was not a good location for any type of restaurant or shopping or beach use. The one positive was the cleaning staff. They were prompt with more towels and refilling of the soap dispenser."

"The elevator situation is terrible. Long lines to get to your room. It seemed like only 3 worked. There was no escalator’s working so you had to wait for elevator or take stairs. Convenient place between mall and convention center and rooms were okay. We stayed in an Ocean View room but it really was “ocean partial view”."

"We were four adults in our party and we got the worst rooms you can ever imagine. We were in the fourth floor were the common areas are located such as the pool, jacuzzi and the breakfast buffet location therefore starting early morning around 6:00AM noise started, people started to come to make line to be the first people to eat breakfast. Then our room were next to the elevator, when we wanted to go in/out from the room our way were full of people waiting for the elevator. We found out with other guests that have small children that they had better rooms and in upper floors. The customer service is a problem here as well because the buffet room tables were not clean. Hopefully this recommendation will help the staff to make better judgment in how to book rooms for their guests."

"My husband and I stayed at the Royal Hawaiian Waikiki for my 40th birthday and we have nothing but praises as glowing as the beautiful tans we received from the glorious Hawaiian sun! The Royal Hawaiian Waikiki is top-notch. Besides being a beautiful pink hotel perfectly situated in the heart of Waikiki close to lovely shopping centers, restaurants, and the beach, it is also an exceptionally clean, well-maintained hotel with luxurious, modern amenities, picturesque beach access, manicured lawns, and delicious dining option. The rooms are spacious with high ceilings and large ceiling fans, huge soft beds, large windows with a perfectly situated table and two chairs for enjoying your morning coffee, delightfully tropical mango-scented bath amenities, and a bidet in the bathroom. You have access to two pools, one located at the RH and the other shared with the Sheraton next door. The staff is warm and welcoming and will bend over backwards to ensure your stay is comfortable and that whatever occasion brought you to the hotel is celebrated fully! For my birthday, we were welcomed with leis, a fruit platter, chocolates, mai tais, and even a birthday card and two complimentary glasses of champagne. I can't say enough positive things about this wonderful hotel and am looking forward to returning as soon as possible!"

"Really outdated hotel. Room 3951 is just awful. Carpet is tearing, door trims are chipped, wallpaper is ripped and falling, bathroom tub is rusty. I did not feel clean. My partner and I were severely disappointed. The hotel needs a major renovation. I personally, will not be a repeat customer of Hyatt in Waikiki."
