Hotels near First Cable Car

"This was one of our favorite hotels on our rail trip through Switzerland! We visited during the last weekend before the fall tourist slow down. (Businesses and restaurants close for a month before ski season.) The hotel was clean and we were upgraded to a suite. The view of all the snowcapped mountains from our balcony was gorgeous. Breakfast was bountiful! There were many choices for us. The hotel also allowed us to leave our luggage with them after check out so that we could go sightseeing before our evening train departure. Our two regrets were that we couldn't stay more than one night and we couldn't eat more for breakfast! ;-) We highly recommend Hotel Alpenhof and will stay there again if we return to Gridelwald."

"Mountain View’s from the room were amazing. The facilities in the spa were some of the best we’ve used in any hotel. Great food selection at breakfast. Staff were ultra accommodating and very helpful. Location is absolutely brilliant, right in the centre of Grindelwald. "

"This was the quintessential hotel. It was perfectly located and absolutely beautiful. The staff could not have been any more accommodating and delightful! The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable. The only thing that I would suggest to them is to provide larger bath towels. Aside from that, it was an exceptional stay and I would absolutely go back. And the views were outstanding."

"This is a great hotel to stay in. Staff excellent. Breakfast has a large choice, good menu choice for dinner and both were great. The room we had was very clean and comfortable with a great view. We had a excellent stay. "

"Stayed here for two nights and really enjoyed it. We had an apartment just off the main building with a private bedroom, a large bed, and a single bed in the living area. The kitchenette was well-equipped for simple meals. Breakfast was excellent — fresh breads and great coffee — and there’s always hot coffee available downstairs. The staff were friendly and very accommodating. Location is perfect: about a 10-minute walk from the main station, 5 minutes to Grindelwald First, and a grocery store right below. The furniture and key system are a bit dated, but overall, I loved my stay and would happily return."
