"Overall we had a great stay at the Estalagem do Mar. The staff was very friendly and helpful with last minute accommodations and present to help with any other needs. It was a 3 minute walk away from a little downtown area with restaurants, a convenience store, gift shop, and little stands that are open on the weekends. Would stay here again if we visit Madeira island again! Free parking on the facility was also a huge plus for us! "

"Good value hotel with a reliable bus service to Funchal only 5min walk away which I used on multiple occasions. It’s very good value compared to taxis. The staff were very helpful at all times of the day and the reception always had a friendly face there to help with many questions. I would stay here again."

"Hotel is situated on a shore of the ocean, so through bedroom windows and balcony we saw only ocean, waves and had magnificent view. Food was excellent in the restaurant, staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Room was spotles. Highly recommended to everyone!!!!"

"A 5 star resort , great spa too. Indoor pools, hot tub and steam room were serien. Our massage therapist was knowledgeable and friendly as well. The main outdoor pool is massive and water warm. The breakfast buffet is outstanding . The staff were always polite and spoke various languages fluently. Our room was very large with a terrific shower. I loved their optional pillow selection as well. The cleaning staff folded our clothes too daily. A nice touch. There are plenty of great restaurants close to the hotel, all reasonably priced and served up good food options. Overall I’d recommend this facility. "

"Our stay at the Pestana Carlton Madeira Ocean Resort Hotel was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with genuine warmth and professionalism by the staff, who went out of their way to make us feel at home. The hotel’s location is perfect—just a short walk from Funchal’s charming center, yet peaceful and right on the ocean. The views from the rooms and terraces are breathtaking, especially at sunset. We particularly loved the choice of swimming pools: the large sea-water pool with direct access to the ocean was a highlight, while the indoor heated pool provided the perfect retreat in the evenings. Breakfast was outstanding with a wide variety of fresh fruits, pastries, and local specialties. Every meal we had at the hotel was beautifully presented and delicious, with attentive service to match. The rooms were spacious, spotless, and very comfortable, offering all the modern amenities while still maintaining a relaxed, island atmosphere. The beds were especially comfortable, ensuring we woke up refreshed each day. What truly sets this hotel apart is the staff’s dedication to excellence—they consistently went above and beyond to ensure every detail of our stay was perfect. We were given the warmest welcome by Samoume, who truly went above We left feeling completely relaxed and already planning our next visit.
