"We had a memorable stay of two nights at the Quinta de S. Bernardo in Douro Valley. This inn is located in a fully functional farmhouse and vineyard, perched high on the slopes of Douro Valley mountains offering picture perfect views. We stayed in a room with river views and a plunge pool- it was beyond gorgeous. The facilities are immaculately maintained. The restaurant served great meals all through our stay including good options for a vegetarian in our party. The winery produces excellent wines that I can highly recommend. The staff are very kind and professional. The place is so small that the staff and the guests get to know one another quickly. The owner and the hostess, Ms. Marcela Monteiro is probably one of the most efficient, kindest, and the most helpful person we have ever met. Well before the trip, she responded to all our questions over email with helpful tips and advices about the Douro Valley area. She helped us with pointers to other providers of high quality experiences in the Valley. She also set us up with a medical professional for urgent care that one in our party needed. I highly recommend this cute, cozy, and picturesque little farmhouse inn for a memorable Douro Valley experience."

"Breakfast was a bit shambolic. Scrambled egg, bacon, mushrooms and sausage for a cooked option is lacking somewhat. Even with such little hot selection it was rarely replenished meaning a wait. When the hotel is full, they'll never cope with thr size of the kitchen and the restaurant. That was the only disappointing thinking. Other than that, a faultless stay. "

"Absolutely stunning, historic property. Exceeds expectation. If you like Four Seasons, this far outshines. Property, accommodations, staff, and location are outstanding. We stayed in beautiful hotels in Portugal--this one is far/away the finest. Location is in the center of the historic, beautiful, charming village, which cannot be missed for meals, strolling, photos, etc. Highly recommend making the trip to the Arouca Geo Park for the Paiva Walkways and the suspension pedestrian bridge--experience of a lifetime!"
