"Astir was literally across the street from the ocean. I did not have a full ocean view from my room, but I could see it from my balcony on the side of the building. It was a single room, so the bathroom was small, but the bed was comfortable. It was a lovely room for the price. The staff were very nice and friendly. There was a bar open in the afternoon/evening with a wonderful view of the ocean. I would definitely recommend this hotel, and I would stay here again. "

"No one at front desk—a man arrived but did not speak English; we thought he was a guest but he called someone on his cell phone and handed it to me—a woman spoke with me briefly and then the man showed us to our room. Old refrigerator; door did not close, freezer was full of frost. Very few patrons; good because cheap hollow core doors shut very loudly and marble floors very noisy. "Very new and modern resort. The rooms and design of the hotel is great and it looks like a 5* resort. We especially liked the pool area. That said, I wouldn't say the amenities or experience are necessarily 5*. You have to pay to access the spa and tennis courts. The breakfast is quite bad (they have a large selection but mostly poor quality). Being greeted on arrival with a list of rules felt a bit unwelcoming and most of the staff weren't that friendly. In summary, the hotel is great, but don't expect amazing service or amenities."
