"This was my second stay at the Reef Strand. Last year I was there before the remodel. The place has a great new look and I'd call it a gem. Owner and most of the staff go out of their way to make things run smoothly. If your looking for a loud party haven it's not there. At the Reef you'll find peace and relaxation. However, if you want to stay up all night and drink till the sun comes up the staff will be gladly tuk tuk you to where the nights run into the day. Rates are reasonable considering pricing in the other 3 and 3 1/2 star hotels and all the meals I've eating there were very good. So if your going to EL NIdo it's well worth checking in, you'll prob be back for a second or third time like me. "

"Beautiful hotel, food is amazing, views epic. Only negative is Lawin room, a beach front cottage backs on to a very noisy bar, the music should stop at 10pm, it didn’t one night and the hotel did respond and speak to the bar and they provide earplugs. But whilst having evening showers you do feel like you are at a youth hostel disco! With the base coming into the room. I would definitely stay at this hotel again but ask not to be near the bar. "

"What was lacking in the actual facility (see below) was made up for by the incredible staff at Stunning Republic BR. Booking transportation and day excursions was a breeze, and the breakfast was top-notch (both Filipino and American Style). You order from a menu but can mix and match. Typhoon “Tito” hit El Nido when I was there. I can’t think of a better place to weather the storm - the building was solid, staff were always conscious of guests’ safety and comfort, everyone was updated on storm conditions, flights, etc. In the midst of heavy winds and rain, the staff made breakfast and hand delivered it (running across the open area in poncho’s) to residents. The pot of coffee was no small task since the power was out! After the typhoon passed, staff cleared fallen trees, debris, broken glass immediately. In the evening, they prepared a special meal for guests with food provided to them - it’s a breakfast only resort but most restaurants were closed. SRBR is a dated resort with basic amenities. My second floor room had a great ocean view and balcony. The dining area is covered but open air and has fabulous sunset views. The beach is very small. The area around the hotel is safe - a short walk to many restaurants, massage, tour bookings and shops. The rooms - our group had three - were dated, run-down furniture, comfortable beds, and everything worked (shower, tv, plugs). I missed having a small fridge and hair dryer. Many thanks to the staff for EVERYTHING !!"
