"We stayed for 4 nights. Prior to arrival we were provided with an access code for a safe located outside the front door to the premises. We arrived around 7 pm (it was dark) and, unfortunately, there was no key in the safe. There was a sign outside the front door providing a mobile number to ring in case of emergency, but there was no response when I both rang and messaged the number. After about 30 minutes the proprietor came out from inside the premises with a key and let us in. She explained that the previous guest had been injured in a car accident and had not been able to vacate the room until 5.00 pm, meaning that the room had not been ready due to the need to clean it. No issues with this explantation, but we were annoyed that there had been no such advice in the safe, a message had not been sent to us via Expedia and, most significantly, there was no response from the emergency number. In relation to the property itself, it was comfortable enough. We had a private bathroom which was quite small. There is a kitchen, but you are not allowed to cook in it - but can heat food in a microwave and there is a fridge in both the kitchen and your room. This option is better suited for people with a car, as the walk from Macquarie Park metro is about 15-20 minutes which would be challenging if you had large luggage or walking difficulties, That said, there is a laneway leading to Epping Road nearby where there is a bus stop. Overall a satisfactory stay."

"This hotel is well located. It is on a bus route and has the Macquarie University metro station within 10-15 minute walk. The room we had was large, clean and with a comfortable bed. The hotel is attached to an events centre that has a bistro with a good menu. It is also located on the corner of a main, high traffic road. Given these two factors noise could be an issue for some but it was not for us. We found the accommodation excellent value for money and we are intending to return there - along with family members from overseas - when we attend a wedding in another area of Sydney in early November."

"Firstly, we were welcomed warmly by Matthew. Our room was extremely clean, beds comfortable and the shower was hot and beautiful. This motel has a hidden gem (an amazing restaurant) our steaks were absolutely delicious as smooth as butter, outstanding red wines and the restaurant manager Jasmine was so delightful as were all the staff. Ascot Motel offers many wonderful qualities it was a pleasure to stay here. Matthew thank you so much for all your kindness. Congratulations Ascot Motel a hidden gem."
