The Gwbert Hotel

"Satisfactory welcome & check in. Great view from our comfortable room. Poor weather overnight was kept out & we slept well through the storm.
Good food at dinner & breakfast. Friendly & professional staff service.
Improvement works going on to the entrance did not inconvenience or disturb our relaxing stay. Friendly chat with reception staff upon leaving.
Thank you."

Aberystwyth Park Lodge
8/10 Good
"I can't fault the cleanliness of hotel. Reception polite
My only grievance was faint but growing smell of sewage in bathroom l stayed in room 3. I should have mentoned it to staff but did not wish to make issue in case another guest overheard. I only stayed 1 night as booked but would have mentioned it and asked to change rooms if longer stay.
I have stayed at here few times previously without any fault . "

The Esplanade

"There is no on-site parking, so be prepared for a short walk from wherever you manage to park. If you’re lucky you may find a free space as we did, although it wasn’t easy to locate one in the dark somewhere unfamiliar. There are paid car parks nearby, though I’m not sure about the rates or exact distances. Either way, expect around a 10-minute walk, which isn’t ideal when carrying luggage in the rain.
The hotel operates a self check-in system, which I actually preferred. Two days before arrival I received both a text and an email with clear instructions for accessing the building and our room. The process was very straightforward and easy to follow.
We arrived in the dark and initially all the lights were off, and we struggled to find some of the switches. As we were staying on the top floor it took a bit of figuring out, but nothing major.
The room itself was clean and tidy, which for me is the most important thing in a hotel stay. The general facilities in the room were good. However, being on the top floor meant we had a sloped ceiling directly above the head of the bed, so you couldn’t really sit up without bumping your head. The bed also took up most of the room, which made moving around a little tricky. Perhaps a bit nit-picky, but I’m quite tall so it was noticeable.
On the first night there was barely any water coming out of the tap, it was literally just a trickle. We were still able to have a shower, although the pressure wasn’t great. By the following morning"

Starling Cloud, Aberystwyth by Marston’s Inns
4/10 Poor
"Had a meal in Starling Cloud next door and was very ill afterwards. No way to prove for sure if it was caused by the food."
