"Not clean
Pet hotel
Not suitable for anyone with animal allergies
When we arrived at the hotel at 11:30pm we then found out that the room was a room used for owners with pets
We were not offered a room pet free.
As it was so late and been driving for over 6hrs we looked at the room - but the room had a really strong cleaning product smell - probably trying to mask the animal smells, and looking closely on the floor you could see animal hair.
So we left the room as it was not suitable for us.
The animal smell etc is a problem as we both suffer from Asthma and dog / cat smell / hair can give us an asthma attack
So after driving 6hrs to the hotel we could not stay and had to decline the room.
As it was now after midnight it was too late to book anywhere online so we had to sleep in the car.
At no time during the booking for this hotel did it state all rooms would be used by animals - if I had known this I would not had booked this room.
The staff member at the desk could not deal with the booking issue so she wrote down my mobile number for the manager to give me a call.
It’s now Monday and I still have not received a call.
I would like a refund for the distress this has caused, maybe highlight in the booking that this hotel is a pet hotel for future guests"
"Staff were welcoming and helpful. Room was suited to limited mobility, as you can park adjacent (motel style) and minimal steps, but shower is over bath, so not for all. Room was clean with basic amenities, comfortable beds, great views over fields with deer and pheasants. Breakfast was traditional and OK, but we brunched in town the following morning. Bar meals are classic pub grub, tasty and good value. Local buses stop frequently, just outside, which was great for getting in to Durham, about 10 mins to the bus station/shops/cathedral/old colleges.
Would recommend for a budget stopover and will use again"
"Love to stay at the Maldron when in Belfast, its very central to everything and an easy 5 minute walk from the Metro station (Monument). Its very clean and comfortable and has a great bar and lobby area for relaxing."
"Although the room was clean the bathroom bin had not been emptied.
Check in was very smooth and easy, Alex was very welcoming and informative, sharing information for the local area as well as hotel.
The spa pool area was good and easy to use. The only negative is you have to walk through reception and the bar area to get to it which is a little uncomfortable when wearing your dressing gown.
Breakfast was very good. Location very good. I would recommend and I would stay again "
"Staff very friendly and helpful. Food in restaurant was really good. Room too warm for us personally even with window open. Bathroom fixtures (bath/shower fittings) could do with being updated/modernised. Overall pleasant stay. "
