The rooms are beautifully designed and very Dunedin with its low-key sophistication: spacious, quiet, and comfortable in all the ways that matter. But what truly sets The Chamberson apart from other hotels in Central Dunedin are the people behind it: Michael and Jackie. Travel has become increasingly frictionless and increasingly impersonal at the same time. We move through airports, apps, kiosks, and automated messages. Then occasionally you meet someone who reminds you that hospitality is not a set of instructions but a human gift, the gift of making a stranger feel welcome in a new place or unfamiliar situation. Jackie and Michael have that rare gift. Years from now, I may forget the details of the room, but I will remember the feeling of being genuinely welcomed and cared for during our stay at the Chamberson. P.S. "Lovely clean hotel with great views of the moon and sunrise from our ocean view room. Parking was easy. Took us a few attempts to get into the hotel from the carpark as the door latch seem to catch a little. Room was clean and well appointed with a comfy bed. TV took a while to respond and it took me a while to realise I needed to wait for it. Great amenities in the shower, though someone had already opened and used the bath salts that were provided. Great water pressure. Unfortunately the shower doesn't have a lip around it and the entire bathroom floor was soaked as water went everywhere. Really friendly and pleasant staff. Will definitely stay here again."

"Room was outdated. Advertised buffet breakfast at a discounted rate only to find out at the restaurant that the advertisement was no longer valid. Staff were helpful and friendly."

"The suite was wonderful! We had a washer and dryer in our room! Trying to travel light for a month means bringing fewer clothes, and needing to do laundry more often. We really enjoyed having this amenity. Breakfast was fabulous: lots of fruit, cold, and hot choices. The reception staff, and restaurant staff, were friendly. It was easy to walk around the CBD. We would stay here again."

"The staff were amazingly helpful. The property itself is a bit old. The room was next to the road and it was very loud even for us that do not mind the noise. Also the window didnt have the curtain and there was no way you could cover, except we used the bath mat otherwise the light was so bright whole night. "
