From its humble beginnings as a simple fishing and trading village, the last 25 years have seen Dubai explode as one of the most visually stunning and dynamic cosmopolitan cities in the world. Holder of myriad world titles, some of which include the world's tallest building, the world's first 7-star hotel, the world's largest indoor Gold Souk and even the world's largest dancing fountain, Dubai is the city where visions become reality and dreams really do come true.
Dubai's economy was originally built on the oil industry. However, when sources depleted, the city turned its attention to the tourism trade. With so many attractions to offer, ancient and modern worlds existing side by side, it's little wonder Dubai soon took its rightful place as one of the must-see cities of the world.
Dubai takes architectural design to a new level, and has become known for skyscrapers and ambitious construction projects. Home to a rich collection of architectural building styles, Dubai celebrates traditional Middle-Eastern architecture alongside modern cosmopolitan styling.
Take a trip along Dubai Creek, the city's waterway, on a traditional water taxi known as an abra or maybe book yourself into one of the dhow cruises which run through the day and night, showcasing the beautiful illumination of Dubai's city lights.
The city is also the undisputed shopping capital of the Middle East and home to some of the world's largest retail malls and jewellery retailers.Dubai Mall caters for all your shopping desires with many haute couture boutiques as well as the world's largest indoor Gold Souk, a world-famous gold and diamond market.
Fancy a break from all that shopping? Why not head to Al Mamzar Park, a landscaped park and beach area with blinding white sands? Make use of the barbecues and picnic facilities provided while the children amuse themselves in designated play areas.
If you feel the need to cool down, take a trip to family-friendly Aquaventure, Dubai's amazing water park where all ages and adrenaline levels are catered for.
Or, if you really want to get away from the sun, bring the family to Ski Dubai, an indoor resort with real snow where you can ski, snowboard, bobsled or toboggan to your heart's content.
After a long day of shopping, sunbathing or skiing, why not treat yourself to an evening of opulent dining in the fabulous restaurant on top of the Burj Khalifa, the world's tallest building? From your seat, you can even take in the choreographed light and water show at Dubai fountain below.
With comprehensive transportation options available, including buses, taxis, car rental and metro rail, getting to and around the city is not something you have to worry about.
Dubai is the city that has everything; a one-stop destination for every type of holiday imaginable. So, what exactly are you waiting for?
Hotel as promised as a HI express.. Not used anymore to see smoking in the bar, that was not pleasant.. otherwise OK
I used the airport shuttle and the shuttle to the Dubai Mall and both were excellent and made the trip easy.
Non high rise with tranquil inner court even though it was close to the airport.
Great location, value for money, good breakfast with plenty of choice and a lovely pool with bar and sitting area on the 2nd floor.
Very attentive staff especially Karen and louisse they made our stay a perfect stay thank you so much
It's a great location. Central and easy to get around. However from terminal A there are not many signs for directions to the hotel. I had organized for your staff to meet me so it was great but if not I think one would find it a bit difficult to get there.
