"The checkin process could’ve been easier if the “manager” wasn’t money hungry and lied to my face about the price per night I was being charged. She thought I wouldn’t catch it but it wasn’t my first time in Madagascar. I brought it to her attention and she lied repeatedly. She used a higher exchange rate than it was supposed to be. Blatant lies to my face and via WhatsApp. I was definitely overcharged which is what the booking site I used said as well. She tried to say my bank charged international fees which is crazy because how does she know who I bank with and their policies. That tells me she overcharges people regularly. There was no international fees. The final amount I was charged was exactly the amount she inflated. I went to the ministry of tourism and they didn’t help. They just called them and were in cahoots with them telling me I’m wrong. Numbers are numbers using exchange rates or not. I told her via WhatsApp that it’s a police issue now and suddenly the next day “accounting” corrected the problem and they gave me a refund of the difference. Aside from the blatant robbery the breakfast was subpar and I was there a week before my room was cleaned. Once I brought it to their attention they told me I had to leave the room key with them and let them know I want the room cleaned, which is odd for a hotel. They didn’t tell me that prior to checking in."
"Everything was perfect. From before check in to check out.
I booked and next thing I know, I'm getting a WhatsApp message from the hotel about my booking and asking what do i need from them to make my stay successful. A great start. They accommodated every request i had like helping with language barrier, recommendations, transport, food, etc. The morning breakfast was on point. The location was very walkable and the scenery from the wall to wall windows in the room were extraordinary. If i had to say anything cautionary, it would be to be mindful on the mini bar and snacks left in the room. They are charging Euros. The convenience of these products might attract you. All in all 9.8/10"
"The hotel staff were great. Kind and friendly and most spoke English, so that was very helpful for me. The room was great. Only complaint was the shower doors were grinding on the floor when opening and closing, so it made a loud screetch everytime. My view from the room was spectacular. There are some bars and restaurants close by. I felt safe the whole time walking alone at night, but it is through some dark and dirty streets with the homeless around. But this might not be a good option for women traveling alone and wanting to walk everywhere. However, i felt really safe."
"Stay would have been rated excellent but for the persistent water problems. Went for days without a shower at times with a sink full of dirty dishes i couldn't wash because of a lack of water. The owner said this was a temporary problem, but it was a consistent problem throughout my stay. When I asked for a discount because of the issue he offered a pittance. Pool is beautiful and well-maintained but extremely cold. Location is in a beautiful neighborhood but very remote, which might be a good thing for some."
