The area is safe with shops and train and bus within walking distance. Some trains were harder to come by - example: getting to Gatwick Airport was not easy , but trips to Cotswolds, Stratford upon Avon, and London were easy and pleasant. "The Malmaison is in an old prison, close to the train station and close to areas of interest in Oxford. The staff was excellent and very helpful. Our room was comfortable, but the lack of a refrigerator was disappointing. (The staff was happy to deliver a bucket of ice upon request.) We enjoyed breakfast at their restaurant. There were also excellent lunch and dinner options within an easy walk. We enjoyed our stay and recommend it to others."
