"Simply perfect for a memorable stay in the heart of Dartmoor. We hadn't planned to stay until a few days before hand, but having seen the fantastic weather forecast decided to book (initially) a 1-night stopover on our way from Shropshire to Looe in Cornwall. When we started to research Ramblers Rest, we simply had to make it a 2-night mini-break, as it sounded so good. We were not disappointed. We were welcomed by Terry who gave us a thorough tour of available facilities as well as our room etc. They've created a perfect USP, which suited our own personal preferences perfectly, offering all the necessary kit for basic self catering. The Super -king bed was so comfortable and the luxurious bedlinen guaranteed a great night's sleep. The added bonus of the BIGGEST hottub I've ever dreamt of, meant we had a fabulous pre-holiday, holiday!!!! Nikki and Terry are incredibly friendly and certainly well-deserved winning Four in a Bed. I'd like to say we'd return but unless we can have wall-to-wall sunshine and 18 degrees, which we experienced then it wouldn't be the same!!!!! Highly recommend a great value stay at Ramblers Rest, Princetown xxx"

"I didn’t want to write a negative review however as there was zero response to my messages, despite leaving it over 10 days I feel that I must. The pub itself is lovely, good food & comfortable clean rooms. However the lack of customer care lets it down. First as a previous customer mentioned is the welcome. We arrived early as you can’t tell how long a journey will take and we were told that we couldn’t check in until 4pm. We decided to have lunch then went for a walk, arriving back at 3.30pm, however we still had to wait until 4pm. The irony was that the room was ready as we were the only guests! My main concern was a safety concern. We were woken around 12.45 by an extremely loud alarm. We went downstairs to investigate/evacuate to discover we were the only ones there with no means of dealing with the alarm or any emergency contact number. After 5mins a man came downstairs who works there, he also was unable to deactivate the alarm. We obviously were unable to sleep with the alarm sounding. Eventually the man managed to get hold of someone from the pub and nearly 2 hours later the alarm went off! My other concern was the kitchen door was left open at night which was directly under the stairs leading to the accommodation so had there been a fire in the kitchen we wouldn’t be here to tell the story! There was no one in the morning and no response to my concerns and clearly not bothered that we got no sleep which is what we stayed for! "

"Unfortunately the hotel had some problems in the kitchen which impacted very badly on the menu for dinner, the breakfast, service (so slow) and noise. It would have been better to fix the problems before reopening or to have had the courtesy to let us know in advance what the situation was. I would have stayed somewhere else. Extremely disappointing as I’ve had lovely stays here in the past. "

"Excellent stay. Everything you could wish for in the bedroom. The best nights sleep ever. Breakfast top class and fabulous service by a very professional man. Definitely recommend this place and look forward to staying again! Thankyou "
