"Hotel was super clean, beds were cozy, and service was impeccable. Check in and check out were effortless. Pool was fun and not crowded. My only gripe is the high cost for parking ($68/night valet or $55/night self park), which, unfortunately, seems to be a typical issue for downtown Austin. Nearby construction was not an issue from our 22nd floor. I did not find value in the urban experience fee ($35/night), which is way the hotel industry is using resort fees to juice up costs while losing customers. The Fairmont is worth it but I'm afraid they too will start seeing occupancy issues as costs of living increase."
"This hotel is a well-kept secret, a true delight and well-priced. The staff was helpful and friendly and the room was decorated very much like in Dwell Magazine. Nice thick towels, modern bathroom and comfy bed. Each Christmas when I visit my brother's family in Austin I try different hotels. This was the best in the past 7 years!I'm on a budget and was surprised by how nice East Austin Hotel was for the money. It's unassuming from the street but once inside the view down from the rooms to the pool is lovely. They're working on bringing their rooftop bar back into service. Once they do, it looks like an amazing place to hang out with a grand view of Austin. "
"As with all Westins, this property is a solid 4 to 4.5. Good service (polite, quick, efficient), very clean, well located hotel. Richard, a bellman, was particularly helpful.
Some areas for improvement include price of valet parking per night ~$75/night!) and room lighting. On the latter, the main room area has only 3 rather small localized lamps; no overhead lights at all…pretty dark (and we had a great view), if you like that.
Whatever lack of lighting the main area of the room suffers from the bathroom more than makes up for, with essentially bright, white, fluorescent stadium lighting. The bathroom mirror and excessively bright lighting hide no flaws and are mercilessly unforgiving, that shocks the foundation of anyone’s confidence. Although I didn’t cry, I did come close.
Overall, I loved the hotel, but I did come way about $200 lighter and significantly more self conscious because of that mirror and searchlight lighting…"
