"We've just arrived back from a wonderful week in Malta and chose The Malta Marriott in St Julian's. We could not have chosen better as the hotel was fantastic, being in a great location and all staff very friendly and happy to assist on any request we had. Beautiful pools, especially the 12th floor rooftop. Beds were super comfortable and spacious. Highly recommend."

"The hotel is excellent but some of the guests let our experience down. The area is definitely moving towards an Ibiza vibe. We were on our balcony when an “excited”naked young man came out onto the balcony while his friends in the courtyard cheered him on for getting “lucky”, I assume the lady involved was the one who appeared on the balcony later to cheers. That night at “seed” restaurant we watched a group of young men in the hotel courtyard get high from nitrous oxide."

"Hotel rooms dated and in need of refurbishment. Air conditioning very loud and turning itself on and off. Lots of noise from neighbouring rooms. No mention when booking of all the building work next to the hotel. However, spa and pool facilities were very good and the breakfasts and staff were excellent"

"Lovely hotel to stay. You got everything in this place. I booked for a room with seaview. It was fantastic. Downside is the toilet smells. Otherwise, everything is brilliant "

"Incredibly disappointing experience given prior reviews, stars of the hotel, and the competition in the area. I expected much better. As a warning - do NOT book a standard room unless this is facing the water for the upcoming months. There is extensive building works taking place behind the Mercure, which you are only notified via a notice once you are in your room. The jack hammering started at 6.50am and was unbearable. Fortunately we were able to move rooms but I would have been asking for my money back without this. Secondly, we arrived at 2pm and were told our room wasn’t yet ready but we would be texted whenever it was. At 3.45pm we still hadn’t been contacted and went back to the hotel and after some confusion our room was then ready and we were able to check in. Again, not a 4* experience. The rooftop area is okay, but doesn’t live up to the pictures. We were not told at check in that we were entitled to a welcome drink at the pool, and so paid for everything we had. Again - disappointing this wasn’t mentioned. Overall just a completely average experience. Would absolutely not recommend given the other major hotel chains in the area. Rooms should be throughly discounted given the building works. "

"This was my first visit to Malta and the Onyx Hotel did not disappoint. The hotel was exceptional. the staff was pleasant, attention to detail, and very welcoming when I asked questions on places to eat, etc. Mohammed was very memorable with his kindness I recommend The Onyx 09/10 . I would have given 10/10 however the breakfast was not the best in my opinion"
