Stumbled on the perfect stay and it turned out to be such a fun find. The brand-new Gaylord Pacific Resort has it all: water slides, a lazy river, and a wave pool right by the marina. The whole vibe is chic, modern, and incredibly spacious.
If you’re traveling with kids and planning to explore all that San Diego has to offer, this is definitely a spot worth checking out. It just opened in 2025 and is conveniently located near many of the main attractions.
I had a great stay! The room was very clean and comfortable, and the staff was welcoming and attentive from check-in to check-out. Everything felt well-maintained, and the overall atmosphere made it easy to relax. I’d definitely stay here again!
The Gaylord was so nice and huge! The pool was amazing and didn’t seem overly crowded. No need to save pool chairs when they first open unless you want the front row. Our room was really clean and still smelled new! also, don’t fall for the valet like we did the first night. It’s $65 to valet and the parking wasn’t bad at all. It’s connected to the hotel and a nice walk through the property. You won’t regret staying here
Very understaffed for spring break. Pool is great but hours are horrible. It closes at 5 and not open until 10. Impossible to reach front desk staff. On hold for 15 minutes for a simple request.
Staff was top notch, they were always so friendly. Rooms were nice, views were incredible.
Restaurants onsite were okay, the PCH market came in clutch many times though. Only downside is no where is walking distance so had to always Lyft elsewhere.
PRO:
We've been to several resorts in the Carribean, Mexico, and Hawaii. Gaylord Pacific is one of the most beautiful resorts we've stayed at. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a staff member that went above and beyond and not only showed us the registration area but gave us a mini tour of the resort. The atrium is filled with natural lighting, an impressive 3D digital screen, and a tranquil rainfall fountain. Our senses were awakened and awe struck at such sleek beauty. The waterpark had something for the whole family to enjoy. Highly recommend the Bay view room, with balcony. We didn't want to leave.
CON:
Our room had a breathtaking view of the bay, but there's still construction next to the resort, (on the marina side) which began 7am during the weekday. If you're room is near the marina side expect to hear some construction noise.
Overall I'd rate the resort 4.5 stars, if it weren't for the construction noise, it definitely deserves 5 stars.
I had a great time attending a convention during my stay at Gaylord! The pool was great and the restaurants had great food! I would love to stay again for another business trip.
Brand new hotel. The staff was perfect, the atmosphere and amenities are all TOP notch. If you have kids they'll love the 4 pools (wave pool, lazy river, water slides) and an arcade. They have a great selection of foods/restaurants. I'll be staying there again
