The hotel deservedly won architectural awards for its forward looking eco-friendly design that enables the hotel to retain 58% of the incident sunlight in a climate in which this is a highly desirable feature. "The Kau Lodge is a great place to stay. Right kn the ocean, an awesome cafe and outdoors shop on the first floor and the staff is super accompdating to your needs. They ordered us a taxi transfer to the airport, let us store our bags when we did the W trek and we even checked in really late at night and someone was there to help us. The included breakfast was medicore and the rooms a tad small but everything was cozy and comfy and its super close to downtown and other restaurants."

"The cabin we stayed in was simple and old. The beds were comfortable and we had hot water without any problems. The WiFi does not work during peak usuage hours and needs to be upgraded. It is fine during quiet times during the say. The kitchen is supplied with the bare minimum, no salt etc. The bathroom does not have a shelf to put your toothbrush etc so you are stuck with the edge of the sink or the floor. "We arrived very late, around midnight, and didn’t realize that the reception on this side was already closed. However, we were able to check in at the Almasur Hotel next to the express. The staff at Almasur were extremely friendly and helpful—much more so than the express reception. Unfortunately, we had a flat tire, and the Almasur hotel staff went out of their way to assist us by calling local tire shops on our behalf. Since it was Saturday, many shops were unavailable, but they kindly allowed us to leave our car in their parking lot until we could get the tire fixed, which helped us tremendously. The express hotel room itself was cozy. While not very large and with a bed on the smaller side, it is quite new and has everything you need for a comfortable stay. I would definitely recommend the Almasur Hotel to my family and friends, and I would happily stay here again if I return."
