"We had a wonderful stay at No. 5 Valley Lodge. The staffs were so helpful and friendly. Frankie was the best. He arranged everything for us from national park tickets, meals, transportation. Anything we ever needed. They were also available through wechat at all times if we had any questions. The hotel is far from downtown (if you want to go to other destinations) but very close to Zhangjiajie NP. Highly recommend this place and we would absolutely book again if we come back. "

"The one English-speaking reception staffer was very helpful and efficient. Good breakfast and aircon. Amazing robotic toilet seat/ auto flushing etc Nice shower. What I suggest is somewhere to hang our towels if we don’t need them washed every day. It’s a new hotel so we understand the new lifts are under construction. The 2 lifts make long waits for a high rise hotel. The TV turning on every time we enter the room is annoying. "

"This is more of a boutique and is nestled in a nice neighborhood. It is clean and a fun place, but not a hotel as such. The best part is the closeness with the owner and his family. They work had to see that you have a nice stay and they are very helpful. The food is so so and the dining area is small but they will try to help as much a possible."

"Shower drain was a little slow. Room was overall clean and well maintained. Room key lock mechanism failed on 2nd day of 3 night stay. But the problem was fixed fairly quickly. The location was good. We were pleased overall. "

"This is a very nice hotel with a great breakfast buffet, but it’s best feature is its location, within walking distance of the East Entrance of the Zhangjiajie Forest Park. "

"We had a great stay at their hotel. Both owners were very sweet and hospitable. Started from the wife picking us up at the airport. (Sorry I forgot her name)When we got to the hotel she immediately added us to her WeChat so we could communicate with her easily. She was very sweet the first day she noticed we were under the weather so when we got to back to the hotel in the evening she brought us some plum tea which was very good. Almost everyday we were there she has brought us either sweets/ tea or fruits. She was also very helpful and recommended more things for us to do and see. So if you’re ever in Zhangjiajie consider staying with them they are amazing! "

"This property was fronted by the river and close to shopping and many restaurants. Fortunately for me, it was also close to the medical clinic. The staff was kind. They lent me a walking stick and returned a borrowed wheelchair for me. When we had to depart earlier in the morning, they accommodated an earlier breakfast. When I had trouble getting out, they brought breakfast to my room. The breakfasts were plentiful with tasty scratch made fresh local foods. The dumplings were great! The Chinese style omelet was enough for 2 since there was so much other good food. There were a few quirks, like the fancy bidet toilet in our room was too long for the space so we had to sit sideways so our knees didn’t hit the vanity. But the room was as beautiful as the pictures. We really appreciated the soaking tub after the long hikes in the mountains. I brought epsom salts with me. Our Chinese speaking guide was really great, but we also managed at the hotel with translating apps when she wasn’t with us. However she was essentials when I had to communicate with the busy clinic doctor and figuring out the most efficient way to see all the many sites in the area. Despite my health issues, the logistics of getting around such an huge area (hiring a driver on some days was the key and a local guide to communicate with them and the Didi drivers and find great, clean, safe places to eat helped a lot) and the rain in April, we thought the area was the highlight of our trip to China. Amazing!"
