"Our experience was not the best! First getting to access the property from the app was not easy. The link didn’t work. It took us about an hour to finally get it to work. The condo was nice but needs repairs, the beds and pillow were not comfortable, there were holes on walls and the main bed room AC started to leak with water. "Booked for 3days 2 nights and enjoyed my stay! Great location! Had a balcony room on the 9th floor, view was excellent. Staff were very nice. Definitely would book here again. The only complaint I have is that I wish both elevators worked."

"First things first! The best thing about the RIU Emerald Bay is the staff. They are very helpful and really know how to make you feel at home. The common areas of the hotel are clean, the staff is always cleaning up and making sure the floors are dry and clean. The pools are clean and well taken care of. The restaurants, the ones we went to, had many food choices, they were all buffet style restaurants, and the staff was very helpful. The nightly entertainment was also varied; they had rock bands, norteño, and pop music. We certainly enjoyed the shows. Our room was spacious and clean. The things I didn't like: We were not able to make reservations for the a la carte restaurants; we could not get the app for the hotel and, when I asked the person at the reception desk to make reservations for us, she told us that they had given out their spaces for the day and to get up early, I think she said 7 AM to make sure we get a reservation. I have been to Playa del Carmen, Los Cabos and Nuevo Vallarta's RIU Hotels and never, once, they failed to make reservations for me. So, we had to go with the buffet restaurants. Not once, NOT once did they stocked the room mini bar! I had to mention the reservations and the mini bar problem because for me, those are cardinal sins. Over all, I give this RIU 3 1/2 stars, the staff makes up for any inconvenience we had."
