"Our family of 6 had a great long weekend here. Rooms were clean, beds were comfortable, and service was amazing. Kids enjoyed the pool and board games in the lobby. Breakfast was great both weekend and weekday."

"It’s our second time staying at Des Lux. It was very good the first time and still a great place to stay downtown. The breakfast was better than we remember the first time. "

"This place is amazing. I’ve never stayed in a place quite like this. I got one of the cottage themed rooms and it was amazing. It was extremely comfortable (except for the pillows but it’s rare to get good pillows in a hotel). It was so spacious it felt like the room kept going. The room I booked had a fireplace which helped my wife stay warm even though I was hot and she was cold. The shower had good room and pressure. The woman who checked me in was very friendly and informative. I don’t know if I’ll ever go back to Des Moines but if I do I’m staying here no questions ask. In fact I’m going to find out if Stoney Creek has other places. I loved this place. "

"Needed a quiet room for one night. The hotel is older and the hallways show some age. But our room was very nice and clean. The beds are comfortable and the room was quiet. The breakfast had a nice variety of choices. "

"This was great with a buddy. It’s downtown Des Moines. Short walk to farmers market on Saturday morning. Took a walk by myself in the afternoon, not smart. Use the buddy system. It’s a big old beautiful city."
