Some good restaurants around and just across the road from the railway station. Amazing setting! "An exceptional hotel. We had a very spacious room with a balcony and an amazing view. The breakfast choices endless and yummy. The hotel is on top of a hill and away from downtown. If arriving by train, you will need to take a taxi (only 13-14 Euros). The hotel has a complimentary van to and from downtown twice in the morning and twice in the afternoon, you just need to have them add you to their list. Gorgeous gardens and hotel grounds are picturesque, with a nice cocktail bar and a very pleasant outdoor restaurant. The dinner menu not too extensive, however some very unique items and everything was delicious. The staff is superb, both at the front desk and in the restaurant - very professional, super respectful and going above and beyond to meet any request. Our son was there for a couple of days with a large group of students. Varese was their final city in a 1-month class abroad. My husband and I arrived separately and stayed at the same hotel. Since our son's birthday was the day after, we ordered some cakes for his whole group from a local baker the last night of the visit. The baker was running so late, we did not know if she would show up at all - and we had a whole bunch of students waiting. It was already a few minutes after the restaurant's closing time, but the assistant manager took my sudden order for 25 desserts and had them served within 10 minutes. Literally saved the evening and my son's friends said the desserts were the best they've had in Italy all month."
