Descend 750 feet below ground to explore the otherworldly formations of Carlsbad Caverns National Park. Arrive at dusk in summer to witness thousands of bats spiral out of the cave entrance in a mesmerizing natural spectacle.
Carlsbad isn't much of a destination, but there are enough things to do nearby that make it a nice place to go for a short vacation. We visited Carlsbad Caverns, Guadalupe Mountains, Sitting Bull Falls, Living Desert Zoo, museum, and river area.

Bat flight at the caverns was incredible as well as the natural trail and main room trail. Please note that you must have a time reservation online or you may not be able to enter the cave that day.

The city has experienced a good amount of growth in terms of its hotels and commercial offer, and that is a good thing however, it's still expensive for what it is.

We visited the caverns and were totally blown away. We also ran into several very helpful and friendly residents of Carlsbad (restaurant staff, market employees, etc). Ww liked the town and the area.

We came for "the cave" experience. We got what we bargained for---we walked the whole thing from top to bottom--alot for 2 old ladies! We went into town and had some wonderful experiences ---particularly at Mariscos El Bouchon and The Trinity Hotel!
"I appreciated the friendly and accommodating staff. I could tell management cared about their guests and asked several times how they could improve our stay. The rooms are quiet and clean...just what you're looking for after a long day's drive! I would stay again."
