The thermostat in the room was not quite functional. It became hot and then cold. The maid service one day missed replenishing a number of things, but they brought the supplies when we called and gave us some chocolates. We forgot about things in the safe, and they called us and arranged to send back the items. This part was very good.

Our second stay here recently and, honestly, it's a superb hotel. The staff are well-trained and uniformly excellent, the rooms are beautiful, recently refurbed, with wonderful beds and gorgeous bathrooms. We can't fault it and look forward to our next visit.

Food at the Tavern is truly amazing. Rooms aren't great - curtains don't close properly so you get woken up early. Also, no sound insulation so we can hear every step from the person staying the floor above. Breakfast options are very limited. Drinks/mocktails at the bar are not great - too sweat.

Great hotel

Great hotel in a central location, perfect for exploring Cambridge. The staff were friendly and the hotel is beautifully decorated. Only issue was the fire alarm going off at 7am, which was a bit of a stark wake up call, but obviously not something the hotel could have helped!

We visited Cambridge to see our daughter who was finishing her Masters degree. This was the first time to visit Cambridge. The location of the hotel was very convenient for sightseeing, dining, walking around and shopping were very convenient. We had evening tea and lunch at the University Arms hotel and it was delicious. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Cambridge.

Good location

Initially allocated a rather drab room with badly stained/damaged carpet - unacceptable as the hotel was not fully booked. On contacting reception about this, we were kindly moved to a much nicer room with a park view. Enjoyed the underfloor heating in the bathroom, quality bedding and windows that you can open to let in fresh air. Missed having a bathtub as most rooms only have a shower. Cleaning could be improved as the chaise was stained - rather off-putting. Overall a nice stay in beautiful Cambridge

Super comfortable but expensive for what you get

Rooms not great value for money although very comfortable and location fantastic. £210 / night and barely a view is a shame, also a few details not great such as no room service menu in room, forgot part of the breakfast order (quickly rectified once mentioned), didn't find it easy to control temperature of room. On the plus side the bed was super comfy, housekeeping do a fantastic job and lovely to be in such a classic building. Food is also very good.

Great location, very friendly staff everywhere, excellent breakfast with plenty of gluten-free options that we weren't expecting. Nice Krups coffee machine in room and small fridge, lovely shower. A few niggles with the facilities - bathroom vent did not extract quickly when steamy - there was a switch outside the bathroom which did nothing. One of the bedside lamps did not work at all. Youtube showed on TV as an option but did not work. There weren't many TV channels either, you could get a lot more with standard Freeview. Would recommend to others as a lovely historic building in the centre of town, it smells amazing and we slept amazingly.
