"The setting of the hotel is lovely with great views in every direction. The property is more homely than high quality and although the people serving were lovely, it lacked the quality and finesse that we have seen elsewhere in SA eg Lanzerac and Raddisson Cape Town. The service at dinner was warm and welcoming but the foot was ordinary. The rare steak I ordered was medium to well done. I’d suggest the property is due for a refurbishment as in places our room looked tired. Location 5 stars; hotel 4 stars."

"Most supportive, genuine staff! Excellent place, if we were staying longer would have explored the spa. Super short walk to see the water. Breakfast was delicious, cooked to order. Great towels and pillows. Bed was very firm, but more than I prefer. The place was pristine, very impressive. Staff got us booked on a whale watching boat ride the night before, allowed us to store luggage before we departed."

"Clean room, friendly staff, and the best location in Gordons Bay. Being on the harbor means instant access to all the other restaurants, including Antonios Pizza. Breakfast had a wide selection. Interesting to see Europeans do not know health etiquette rules around the buffet."

"The apartment at The Ivy is a wonderful "home away from home" . The location is perfect as it is on the main road where you can shop, eat & browse. The apartment is serviced every day & the staff are unobtrusive , giving you time to laze around in the morning before they come. This property would probably have earned 5 stars , if not for 2 minor downfalls : 1. There are no flat/top sheets on the beds. Given the heat of Franschhoek, it would be great to have the option of only covering oneself with a sheet; 2. The apartment which we had stayed in window blinds are not easy to open & close. The one blind to the balcony couldn't close & the light from the signage outside "The Ivy" shines rights into the Main bedroom. I think that even with the blinds closed, it would still shine through. Overall though, this a fantastic property choice for a weekend away or even for tourists. It is tastefully furnished & the owners have definitely thought of almost everything ."

"Hotel is in desperate need of renovations. Table we sat at was broken as was a chair that was simply moved to another table where someone is going to fall and hurt themselves. Damp smell in our room otherwise good. Golf course great but service and price is bad at halfway and bar."
