Truly the best view of the city is from Crest Road. FYI, This is NOT a spot that locals ... or local Law Enforcement want a bunch of tourists visiting. The small one way street only runs about 1000 feet and no stopping is allowed. The street is closed with a keypad locked gate after 7 p.m. I parked down the street and walked up just before 7 p.m. for this shot. Please be aware that in this part of town there is a lot of affluence and Local Law Enforcement is VERY serious about protecting its community... If you look out of place they will find a reason... dig?

Passing through, I needed to stretch my legs so I took a detour to the gardens. I was only able to see the Japanese garden. It is beautiful! The landscaping is on point. The only suggestion I would give would be to clean the water.

The Summit
The Alabama Theatre was built in 1927 by Paramount Studios as an Alabama showcase for Paramount films. It was used primarily as a movie palace for 55 years. In 1987 the owners of the facility declared bankruptcy and the theatre was purchased by Birmingham Landmarks Inc. Now the Alabama Theatre for the Performing Arts, it hosts many live events. Each year the Theatre hosts over 300 events attended by a half million People. In 1998 the Theatre underwent a complete restoration.

Bug in shower. Dirty baseboards. Bed is hard as a rock. No conditioner in shower. Only one washcloth for 3 people. Broken coffee maker. All remedies in about 15 minutes but aggravating none the less. Landline phone did not work so that is a safety issue in a hotel. Would not stay here again.

Aaaah Back home! Mountain Brook is were it all began for me many moons ago! This image is of "The Old Mill" or "Old Mill House", a 1926 replica of Perryman's Mill built by the Jemison Companies to promote the newly-developed residential suburb of Mountain Brook. It is located on the foundations of the earlier grist mill, on the bank of Shades Creek at 2780 Mountain Brook Parkway. Tip - Early morning is better. Be aware this is a private residence in a residential area... not a tourist attraction. There is a linear park with a popular running trail along this road. Plenty of pull in parking spots along the side of the road and a great place to watch the fabulous Mountain Brook housewives strut their stuff. #TroverDetour
