"Overall a good stay. Location was perfect, and to have parking was a real plus. The check in process is easy enough-if you get given the correct code to access your room key. However, this was rectified quickly. Cleanliness was okay, floors had not been done very well-lots of crumbs and debris in kitchen, balcony had not been brushed or cleaned in awhile as evident by the amount of bird droppings on the furniture. Beds were comfortable and linens were nice. If you plan on spending most of your time out and about then this is a great place to stay."

"Stepping into this beautiful 1600s Devon inn felt like travelling back in time in the best possible way. Full of charm, character, and cosy atmosphere, it had everything you could want for a relaxing countryside stay. From the weird and wonderful ornaments on the walls to the historic beams and welcoming surroundings, every detail made it feel truly special. Laura was an absolutely fantastic landlord — warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from the moment we arrived. She made us feel completely at home and went above and beyond to ensure we had a wonderful stay. A huge bonus was how much both my partner and our dog loved it too! It’s not always easy to find somewhere that’s genuinely dog-friendly while still feeling so comfortable and high quality, but this place absolutely nailed it. Plenty of lovely walks and beaches nearby, a relaxed atmosphere, and lots of fuss for the dog made it perfect for all of us."

"Beautifully kept B&B with an incredible hostess. Nothing was too much. Lovely room, comfy bed, good shower/bath, very dog friendly but kept immaculately. Amazing food & scrummy cake! Thank you Caroline."

"Hotel, staff, and parking were first class. Toilet seat moved every time I sat on it, Shower and cleanliness were great. Breakfast was very good, although it cost me extra. I had thought that my booking through Expedia did include breakfast."

"Our 2nd stay at the Sailors Rest...Nice room with fantastic views & a huge king size bed... Great shower & mini fridge with fresh milk & water ...nice touch. Happy with our 1 night stay in Beautiful Appledore & hopefully will return to the Sailors Rest in the future."

Durrant House Hotel

"Looked ok in reception but that’s as good as it got , very out dated and not a great deal worked in the room . Very nearly boiled the kettle for a coffee in the morning before looking in it . Never seen anything like that before . When reeling off the stuff wrong with the room the staff were not bothered at all . Was charged £130 for the night and wouldn’t have paid £30 if I had a choice ."
