"The hotel is very well located about a 5 min walk to Nagasaki station. The room is quite large and has a hot plate and fridge. Free laundry by front door. Thr Nagasaki road seagull market at the station has many food options. There was a little glitch to get into the hotel the first time. If you push the clear/erase button first and then the * and code that they send you firmly, the door will open."

"First location. For me the location is perfect. Small side street that is so quiet, you can't believe you are in a city. Close to temples, shopping and restaurants that are literally one minute away. When you get the code and enter the building it has this quirky charm that makes it so appealing. The room/unit was huge, at least he one that I stayed in. Beautiful wood and tatami matted rooms, full kitchen, separate bathroom and shower. Great futons to sleep on. A true Japanese experience. Hotel Monterey Nagasaki

10/10 Excellent

"The Japanese style breakfast was excellent; there were a few choices for the western taste as well. The hotel has a good restaurant , Amalia for lunch and dinner. The neighborhood was great; easy walk to Grover Garden ( many shops around) and Chinatown ( opposite direction) also with many shops and restaurants. The hotel was nicely decorated with a Spanish colonial flair. We appeared to be the only westerners in the hotel. Staff was excellent and went out of their way to be helpful; their English was limited. The television had many options but it was all in Japanese."

"Hotel itself is great. All of the staff EXCEPT for the front check in desk are superb. The check in is misery there. They don’t honor any Hilton Honors benefits, say no to everything and to top it off, reception sent a letter to my room an hour after I checked in stating they undercharged us $5 so be prepared to pay that at checkout. A formal letter shoved in the door crack to collect this “debt” after being there less than an hour and refusing Hilton Honors benefits are enough reason for me to stay elsewhere next time I’m in Nagasaki."

"Great location right next to the train station l, shops and a short walk to the tram stop. Very clean and well maintained. Walls may have been a bit thin because we could hear our neighbours banging around next to us and walking above us. Staff are great and especially thank you to the young male staff member who was extremely helpful when there was a bit of confusion with the parking."
