Where to stay in Amman

Find the best Amman areas and neighborhoods for the activities you enjoy most.

Downtown Amman

Downtown Amman captivates visitors with its ancient Roman ruins perched on hilltops. The restored Roman Theater and majestic Citadel offer glimpses into Jordan's rich past. Traditional souks fill narrow alleys with colorful textiles, spices, and handcrafted goods. Authentic coffee houses serve aromatic Arabic coffee in ornate brass pots. Local restaurants offer classic Jordanian dishes like mansaf and falafel at budget-friendly prices. Most attractions are within walking distance, though steep cobblestone streets require comfortable shoes.

Jabal Amman

Jabal Amman reveals Amman's layered history through honey-colored limestone buildings and winding cobblestone streets. This charming hillside district balances heritage and hipness with Ottoman mansions alongside trendy cafés. Rainbow Street forms the cultural backbone where locals and visitors mingle. Discover art galleries housed in historic buildings or browse artisanal craft shops selling handmade Jordanian treasures. Rooftop restaurants offer stunning city views while traditional bakeries fill narrow alleys with the scent of fresh bread. Despite steep terrain, the neighborhood rewards explorers with authentic cultural experiences at every turn.

Al Swaifyeh

Al Swaifyeh is Amman's trendiest district where fashion-forward boutiques and vibrant cafes create an electric atmosphere. Young professionals mingle in stylish lounges while shoppers browse international brands at The Galleria and Baraka malls. Wakalat Street pulses with energy both day and night. Rooftop venues offer stunning city panoramas against the backdrop of modern architecture. Getting around is easy with abundant taxis and excellent walkability throughout this cosmopolitan hub.

Jabal al-Luweibdeh

Jabal al-Luweibdeh stands as Amman's creative heart, where narrow cobblestone streets wind between honey-colored limestone buildings. Traditional Ottoman mansions now house art galleries and studios, while panoramic city views reward those who explore its steep pathways. The Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts and Darat al Funun cultural center showcase the neighborhood's artistic spirit. Rainbow Street buzzes with trendy cafés and rooftop dining spots serving everything from traditional Jordanian cuisine to artisanal coffee. Boutique hotels occupy charming restored houses, offering a perfect balance between authentic residential life and cultural experiences. Though challenging to navigate by car, these winding streets are best explored on foot.

Abdoun

"Location was perfect!!! Very nice staff!! Room was great - but bathroom was very run down and appeared old and dirty…needs a little updating, otherwise eveyrhing was great. The only disadvantages to this hotel is they have a bunch of entrances on a very busy street and there is no clear signage of where the check in entrance is etc..the Ubers get very confused with several entrances etc..also the check in could’ve been more efficient…took a while to get the card and a simple check in, but maybe she was a bit busy, I dunno.
