"Our room was good ( but that is because it was the Dickens Suite) the rest of the hotel was pretty much deserted, reception was manned, but the bar was empty, the front rooms where empty and the hotel looked tired, which is a shame since it could be fantastic, excellent location with plenty of parking, historic building, could be made to have stunning sitting area by the fire, bar and restaurant in the front and boutique rooms, shame"

"I booked a Club Room and was very disappointed at how dated and dingy the room was. Room smelled mouldy, woodwork chipped, ironing board burnt, shower curtain black with dirt at the hem, toilet bowl stained with limescale. No electricity sockets by bed. Definitely not good value for money."

"I paid on arrival at 5:10pm, to be then asked for my card details in full that made me feel uncomfortable so l froze my bank card. So glad l did as the young girl tried to charge me again 4 times from 9pm up until 9:30pm, she clearly gave up and although the Manager Islam was helpful l am yet to receive assurance via email that their error won’t be duplicated. I would avoid if l am honest"

"Really run down. Dirty carpets. Damaged bathrooms. Lime scale on showers. Rooms smelt. Corridors are dirty. Would not recommend "

"Great room,clean, comfortable and perfect for our one night stay. Great bath and shower with plenty of hot water. Enjoyed a lovely carvery meal in the evening but skipped breakfast as we had a long drive. Food menu very comprehensive and very reasonably priced. Lovely staff."
