"It was minus 21 degrees C, and I was worried the hotel would be cold, but it was really toasty, with heat coming through the radiator and floor throughout the night. The hotel is in a great location, with nice bars, restaurants and coffee shops on the doorstep. You could also get free water and coffee from reception, and the receptionists were lovely. The building and rooms looked cool in a traditional way, although our bathroom tiles were loose. It was 25 minutes walk to the old town."

"I really liked this place. Despite being a studio, the room was large and the placement of things in the room was well thought out. They provided a lot of room necessities (soap, cleaning products, coffee, tea, sugar) and everything was absolutely pristine. The location is back from the street and incredibly quiet - I slept quite well here, and made my own dinners in the kitchen. Convenience and grocery stores are only a couple of blocks away."

The negative sides: (i) extremely noisy, because right downstairs is a popular pub. Hence not recommended for a family stay; (ii) the beds were very uncomfortable, making it difficult to sleep. "Just a walk through parks to the old town on an upscale street. Lido’s around provide inexpensive food options with authentic Latvian foods. The buffet breakfast is nice but really could use more fresh fruits and salad options. Strawberries were in season but absent and a lack of nice salad options was a bit disappointing. As well fresh eggs rather than using powdered eggs for the scrambled eggs should be used at a 5 star hotel as well as other egg options. "
