New Caledonia Hotels

Our family of 2 adults and 2 teens stayed for 7 nights from 5 Jan 2014. We booked a shuttle with Smith Voyage and it is a 40min drive from the airport. We stayed in the middle building on Level 3 in a 2bdrm apartment overlooking the pool. It was very clean and spacious with kitchen, lounge (need to upgrade sofas), 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and lovely big balcony with outdoor setting. On arrival we rang for a kettle and we were given one straight away. If you require anything, just ring and ask for it. Should have asked for instruction manuals for washing machine and oven in English, we didn't use these. Room cleaned everyday and sheets every 3 days. Didn't use the restaurant on site, limited menu, not to our liking. Bought breakfast from the bakery up the street and supplies from the supermarket Michel Ange 15min walk from the hotel to make our lunches. For dinner we ate at the Le Fun Beach, 3 Brasseurs, Rimba Juice Cafe, Casa Italia, Mayflower Chinese, Dolce Vita and Piazza takeaway. Have a glass of wine in hotel room before eating out as very expensive. Pool heated by the sun, no shade, pool towels from reception. Anse Vata Beach is windy, but we enjoyed swimming in the warm water. We hired kayaks and rowed out to Le Roof Restaurant. We caught the taxi boat to Duck island in front of the hotel and had a great day snorkelling, recommend hiring umbrella and chairs, very hot!. Visited the aquarium and walked to Lemon Bay and bus to the city. Relaxing holiday

The hotel has a very good place, on the most beautiful bay of Noumea : Anse Vata. The bus stop is just at the front of the hotel. A lot of shops and restaurants around (and tourism /information point). The people at the reception are very relevant, welcoming and kind. The room are comfy and clean. So very good hotel ! I have spent a very good stay here. Just one thing is not like on the photo, is the swimming pool, it is small, not huge like on the photos but enough, i was not here for the swimming pool ;)

We required a central hotel, near Port Moselle prior to a yacht charter. It was everything we required. Easy transfer to airport, cafe and scrupulously clean. Staff very pleasant, even though our French not fabulous.

Room was amazing Location was amazing Food was great The best part was the staff who were helpful and generous with time and service The only change I would make to the stay would be an inclusive package optional to discount either food or drinks As a pre selection the customer gets what they want and the hotel knows a little about customers before they arrive Will come back again

We had a wonderful stay at the Hotel Le Surf over Christmas 2013. The (lagoon view) room was exceptionally clean and maintained so. The bathroom was clean and odour-free. The staff were very friendly and helpful and appeared to speak excellent English, though I mainly spoke French with them. They made several taxi and "navette" (airport minibus) bookings for us perfectly. We found breakfast very satisfactory, it's not what you would get in a Paris hotel, but for Noumea it was a good French Continental spread with nice fresh tropical fruit. The hotel and its decor are a little "faded" but we found that this added to the hotel's charm. The historic photos and carvings all around are actually quite interesting. They had also done a beautiful job with Christmas decorations. Also the bedrooms had possibly been renovated because the decor there seemed very fresh and contemporary. I chose the Hotel Le Surf because it was cheap and appeared to have an excellent location (walking distance from the Baie de Citrons, but also facing the main southern beach and walkable to the Hilton/tourist shop complex). This turned out to be a really great choice.
