Affectionately and appropriately called “The Boneyard”.

Such an interesting place to wander around.
At St Simons Island. Great place to view some birds in the winter and great beaches!
The Horton House Historic Site on Jekyll Island, GA. The house was originally built it 1740 by Major William Horton, who settled on Jekyll Island as 2nd in command to General James Oglethorpe as part of their expansion of English settlements. The house was made of tabby, a material created by burned oyster shells, sand, and water. The original house was burned during a Spanish raid in 1742. The home was rebuilt after the American Revolution, and used as a home by Poulain de Bignon who lived there until his death. In 1886 the island transitioned from an active plantation to a recreational area, and the home eventually fell into disrepair. It is free to visit. #jekyllisland #georgia
the entire time I was there I was clouded out of a sunset, So knowing that I wasn't going to get the sunset I went to see what high tide looks like on the island. It was brutal.
During high tide the entire beach disappears and water crashes up onto the sand dunes and barrier rocks. I captured this about 45 minutes after sunset. the color comes from the city lights just behind the buildings.

Image is about 1 minute long. I had to hold the tripod down when a wave would come in, always fun.
