Probably the worst place I’ve been.
Place is utterly dirty. Extremely humid, only with fans in room. Prebooked private triple room, clearly got a dorm with 4 beds instead. 2 friends got sick during the stay, because of the extre humidity in the room, no way of cleaning the air. Big holes in all the mosquito nets. I will never recommend this place to any one, nor visit it again. Stay away.

Sexual Harrasment and Gross Misconduct.
I stayed at this place twice. The first time (April 8, 2021), I was with a group of other tourists - 4 guys and 2 girls - and nothing happened. The second time (April 12, 2021) I was alone because I had to do my covid test in Stone Town. That's when the harrasment occurred. The man at the front desk (with one fake eye), touched me inappropriately, putting his hands on my legs and waist. He was making sexual remarks like drinking beer and spending the night together. At one point, I was talking to another guest and he just stood there staring at us for a very long time. 30 min later, a mouse is in my room which I believe he put there since my room was on the 3 floor, and no food was there. He made me so uncomfortable that I didn't leave my room for the rest of the day and checked out in the morning. I mentioned this to my tour guide afterwards and was advised that he has a very bad reputation here in Stone Town and has done this before. And my taxi driver said "he is a very bad man". I wish someone would have told me that sooner. If you are a woman, especially if you have children do not book there. There is a reason why this place is so cheap. It's better to pay for your peace. He took advantage of the fact that I was alone because he did not behave in this manner when I was with 4 other guys. hope that he sees this message and learn how to treat people with respect.

Cheap as chips, does the job.
Cheap as chips, don't expect a palace for b&b money... No city tax is a huge bonus. Easy walk to the excellent Mercury's restaurant. Friendly staff, tasty breakfast. Rooms don't get cleaned each day, bathroom flooded, but at the price cannot complain! Mozzie nets on all beds. Slightly creepy Bashar Assad portraits everywhere in various poses, but I've stayed in crazier!

Dishonest
First of all there is no free WiFi. Also I accidently left my phone in the rooms after checking out, when I went back to get it no one had apparently seen it. When I checked the location on Google it was on a week after I left the hotel in the same area. The phone was very obviously stolen. My bad feedback is relating to the dishonesty of the staff working there. Make sure you keep all valuables with you.

Terrible Service/Lost Reservation/Arguements
I checking after arriving from Kenya at 1am. The only had one room left and I showed them my reservation but they insisted I show how much I paid for my room. All I had was a confirmation number on my App. I argued with the owner for a half hour, "I have a reservation, you have a room, why can't I check in?" I guess they wanted to charge me more if they thought I paid too little online. I showed the owner my Expedia App with all the confirmations but he still argued with me and would NOT let me check in. Finally, after 30 min he said he would sort it tomorrow I just needed to write down my name and the company I booked through. I wrote my name and Expedia and he said, "Expedia, I know them!'" Apparently, you don't. I would NOT recommend this place because of the treatment I went through!
