"The property seems to be recently updated, it is modern, and clean. The amenity is lacking a few things (for example, it tells the guest to wash dishes and put them away but doesn’t provide a clothe to dry them). Also, the instruction isn’t super clear. The instruction reads to leave the key on the table when checking out (that’s what it says literary in English), when in fact you need to lock and put the key in the lockbox as one example. Also the road to access the property is quite narrow...

"Absolutely gorgeous place, super close to Nara park. After hiking to Mount Wakakusa my wife and I enjoyed the private hot springs. It was surreal enjoying the hot water while listening to the rain in the rock garden area. We would definitely come back if we find ourselves in Nara. "

"A beautiful spot in the forest, although just a bit far from the sights in Nara. The staff was lovely and the room quite comfortable, by Western standards for a Japanese room (although the futons were by far the hardest and most uncomfortable of the three ryokans we visited). The meals lived up to the reviews, beautifully presented true kaiseki."

"1st, this is an old and poorly maintained house without the old house charm. 2nd, please add a "Can Not accept any guest older than 55 years old. We were almost denied at check-in due to our age. 3rd, Expedia should not outsource the reservation through another 3rd party platform (Ctrip.com). 4th, English communication is challenged. 5th, it is not price competitive. Another hostel a few house down was only US$26 instead of $52. 6th, the hostel does not allow any cancellation. 7th, the entire house is cold. 8th, Expedia posting indicates that there is a hot tub. Well, the owner covers it and does not allow guest to use in order to avoid any cleaning work. Terrible, please stay away from this hostel."
