This hotel is very characteristic, very close to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, reception and staff are also very good.

Very close to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda.

Very good. But, the hotel staff don't speak English. Also, don't trust the address of the hotel in google maps. It is wrong. An amazing Indian restaurant is very close to this hotel.

We were pleasantly surprised.

We traveled to Xian to see the Terracotta Warriors and didn't have a clue or expectations of the city or our accommodations. The Cien Hotel is located in or at the edge of the "Peoples Leisure Town". It is not centrally located in the city but we found that that its location perfectly suited our walk around style of travel and if we had missed it we would have missed some. There is a very large and beautiful park with night fountains and night light shows right next to the Hotel and the City Museum is within walking distance. We also enjoyed the large covered Mall at the opposite end of the park. At night we enjoyed a light show at the fountains as well as the company of many families and university students, there are at least two and possibly three universities in the neighborhood. We didn't eat at the Hotel Restaurant because there is a very nice "food street" right next door where we sat outside, ate and drank beer and enjoyed a very friendly atmosphere. There are also several very nice restaurants just on either side of the front door. In the evening we enjoyed coffee in the cafe located below our room. English was spoken there and we were very much at home. Our room at the Cien Hotel was both clean and huge, the bedroom had an adjoining game area, which we didn't need but we appreciated the space. Though for the most part English was not spoken however the staff were helpful and friendly and made us feel welcome. We would definitely stay there again.

Dont bother

First, none of the people at the reception knows english. They took about 45 minutes to recognize my reservation with a very popular website. The location is alright, but does not help that none of the taxi drivers knows where it is, not even the tourist guides. Also, the bathroom is see through from the bedroom (which i found really weird), though there is a blind that semi covers the window. If this is your first time to China and you dont know chinesse, try and spend a little more to get a better hotel or keep looking. It is very agravating to wait for 45 minutes at the reception and not having an idea of what is going on or if they are going to reject your reservation and charge you again or even if you are going to get a room at all. I wish I would have spent a little more just to avoid all the frustration.

nice ancient outlook

nice ancient outlook, three floors only and poor sound insulation and also noise from the streets below. food street just outside,price reasonable. no food or convenience store within walking distance after 11pm.
