With Eagles Meadow,Wrexham’s trendy shopping centre, a renownedcentrepiece for the town, shopping is a real attraction for visitors. Opened in2008, it has a distinctly modern feel to it, and features plenty of openspaces, decorative water features, and a genuine sense of continental caféculture alongside the wealth of top-brand retailers, cinema, and ten-pinbowling.

The PontcysyllteAquaduct, the world’s tallest navigable canal boat crossing when itwas built in 1805, and still the tallest of its kind today, is a heritagemasterpiece. This still-operational wonder of architectural engineering, whichstraddles an area of outstanding natural beauty, is in its own way emblematicof Wrexham’s dual personality of environment andimagination.

Sport in Wrexham

WithWrexham being such a lively town, it should comeas no surprise to discover a rich seam of sporting endeavour and opportunity atevery turn.

The Glyndŵr UniversityRacecourse Stadium, is North Wales’s largest stadium, and fifth largest in thecountry. It also holds the honour of being the world’s longest servinginternational football venue and has played host to some of the game’s biggestnames, including Arsenal, Middlesbrough, Tottenham, West Ham and FC Porto – allof whom have been sent home in defeat by this feisty town’s hometeam.

Rugby has also found ahome in Wrexham, and there have been a number ofRugby League World Cup matches played at the venue.
