The rooms were clean, but the staff were not knowledgeable. I was told there was no stair access to the rooms when only one elevator was working. I paid a high price for the room and with my elderly relatives it was extremely difficult to wait (sold out due to parents weekend) and then attempt to climb multiple flights of stairs. I do expect some reimbursement for the inconvenience.

Good hotel but parking is not free

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The only negative was the parking. I paid $43 for 2 nights stay since the only available parking is paid public parking across from the hotel.

Spacious rooms

The updated rooms are spacious and comfortable. The halls are a little more outdated but still well-maintained and clean. Valet parking is $28 (with unlimited in/out) or you can easily park in a parking garage across the street for $20/24. I mostly visit on the weekends when there is no free breakfast but there are many coffee shops and bakeries nearby.

Rooms have paper thin walls- they let dogs bark all night and you can hear the elevator every time it comes to your floor. Suffice it to say, it’s impossible to get good sleep there. Go elsewhere and save yourself the couple hundred dollars on this old hotel

Service for this hotel was nowhere near what it should be for the price. Here are a list of things that we dealt with for a long weekend: - Clogged sink: first maintenance call made it worse, second one fixed it but left dirt and muck everywhere in the bathroom - Broken fridge: fixed, but broke again after 2 hours; lost some food to that one - Missed a room cleaning, called to ask if they could do it; 6 hours later still not done. Call again, they say they got it, go to the bar for an hour, go back up - still not done. Call again, they come up and we give them 30. Go back up and our bed is SOAKING wet. Asked for a dry comforter, maintenance (??) brings us...a sheet. We walked away from this hotel experience extremely experience even after giving them the benefit of the doubt and a huge amount of patience. Needless to say, we will not be staying here again.

Very poor service at the Winston-Salem Marriott. Check-in time is at 3pm, we arrived at 4pm and were told our room had not been clean and that we would just have to wait until it could be. No ETA given, told "all we have are double queen beds" but we had paid $406 for a king bed. Manager on duty was uninterested, we had to push him to call the cleaning team to do something. Finally after an additional wait and much suspense we were given a room 4 floors lower than our original reservation.
