"Lovely place, great location on the high street. Private, off street parking is very helpful - the entrance to it is through a very narrow archway which was a tight squeeze for an SUV. The property itself is well kept & equipped. Very clean and nicely furnished. Communication from the owner by text on the day with all the check in info was very helpful."

"The Hen House cottage was a great place to stay for our trip in the Durham area. The village of Brandon is a beautiful location for going for walks in the countryside and with a great pub/ restaurant called the Bay Horse Inn on 50m away it’s a perfect place to stay. The village is very close to the historic house, chapels and gardens of Ushaw and Brancepeth Castle, which are both excellent places to visit!! "Property needed a deep clean. I sneezed a lot and had black dust come out of my nose. Heating didn’t work sometimes and the room was quite cold. "A nice hotel, but I was disappointed with my last day. I stayed for 5 nights and asked for a late checkout on the final day, only to be told checkout latest was 11am and every hour after would be a charge of £30. This seems a little extortionate and as a frequent traveller and user of this hotel many time before, a little user unfriendly. I understand they have to clean the rooms and make ready for other people, but surely there is a more customer friendly way of dealing with this. "
