"Excellent property with superb views. The staff are extremely helpful too. The beach unfortunately is covered with sea weeds and you hardly see the sand and not ideal to walk or lie on the sun lounger. Not much choice on the menu for vegetarians either."

"Wonderful place, for people looking to seek a different type of experience, we stayed in the lagoon bubble lodge, lovely view of the lagoon. Monkeys jumping on top in the morning which we were lucky to see as we slept. One of the best pools to swim and relax. Staff and owners very welcoming and helpfull. Lovely facility of boat ride to take you to otherside which by road takes 50 mins. Would definitely recommend to people seeking a luxury outdoor experience."

AHG Lion Beach Resort

"AHG Lion Gate Hotel has a lot of potential. The food was very good, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. It was also fascinating to see how many languages they spoke, which really added a welcoming and international feel to the place. However, the alcoholic drinks were disappointing—most tasted watered down, like a mix of juice and very little alcohol. For the price of the all-inclusive option, it’s surprising that it ends at 10 p.m. After that, you have to pay for drinks, and paying €7 for a cocktail that isn’t well made feels unreasonable. There are also small details the hotel could easily improve to enhance guests’ experience, such as adding irons and full-length mirrors in the rooms, since the bathroom mirror is quite small. On the positive side, the nightly entertainment was great, and the pool area is lovely, though it closes early at 7 p.m. Watamu Beach is beautiful too, but note that the tide doesn’t come in until the afternoon—mornings are low tide with very little water. Overall, it’s a pleasant stay with friendly staff and nice food, but a few simple improvements could really elevate the experience."

"This extraordinary property is a five star experience you should not miss. You are off the main road and close to a pristine beach. The villa has superb amenities and a warm and welcoming host. You have complete privacy if you want it, but we chose the option of a personal chef for the week and it was a wise decision. She was a talented cook who accommodated all our requests with great skill. The property is new and extremely modern, with comfort and convenience emphasized. We cannot wait to return!"
