"My stay at the Evergreen Lodge was a mixed bag.
Pros.. All of the staff were very kind and grounds beautiful. The recreation center and restaurant a definite plus and proximity to Yosemite without staying in the park wonderful. My room had a fridge, safe, tea kettle, and coffee maker.
Cons… I stayed in one of the “vintage” cottages, the bed was creaky and very uncomfortable so I did not sleep well the week I stayed. The smell of the cleaning products they used were so strong I had to open the windows and door for 2 hours upon entry to make it bearable.
I called before booking and asked if they use hypo allergenic detergents and the front desk staff didn’t know but said the pillows are hypo allergenic so the detergent probably is. Unfortunately it was not. Fortunately I was driving from home and was able to bring my own linens just in case.
The room itself was not as clean as it could have been, the top of the fridge covered in dust, the curtain to the closet had a spider web clutch (the pouch spiders make for their eggs) which told me it had been there awhile.
Overall for $270 a night - the room was not worth it.
The store had many items that were gluten free and vegan friendly but beware nothing is priced and it was $17.25 for a box of crackers and small tub of hummus.
Before I left I did ask to check out the glamping set ups, as they have new pillow top mattresses and they were quite nice. I would stay again but will avoid the rooms until they get new mattresses."
"Located outside of Yosemite yet close enough to get to without much trouble. Being a bit further away means that room prices are significantly less than other properties."
"It was after dark when we checked in we checked in . After we unpacked we discovered there were black ants on the kitchen counter top - we killed about twenty. Went out to get some food and came back and found more ants. Called the main desk and they sent someone to spray the kitchen area. Wife went to bed and I was trying to sign- on to the internet and saw something moving in the room - it was a lizard. Also saw more ants. Went to the front desk to complain (they did move us to a different room) but they made excuses - "well we are in a forest area", etc. Also complained about not being able to sign on to the internet ( they scoffed (one of them actually chuckled) and said it must be my laptop - have NEVER had a problem anywhere else!). New room was cleaner (no ants) but had hair in the bath tub drain and the utensils and some plates were not clean (same as we found in the original room - plus the sponge they give to wash plates and utensils - no dishwasher- was a used one). For what we paid I would gladly pay more to stay inside the park or ANY WHERE ELSE."
"There was no cell service, but wifi worked. We got a room with a small kitchenette and it was covered in ants, ruining our food and making it impossible to use. The electricity went out for a few hours one morning."
"A good place to stay. Great staff beautiful area friendly people. This was off season so no traffic practically no other tourists anywhere. Rooms had flannel sheets and lots of blankets to stay warm during a cold night unlike most motels. The heater was loud and there was no fridge or microwave in the rooms so if you go off season it’s hard to find a place to eat. Our host made breakfast available to us even though we were the only ones there. We really appreciated his extra care he gave us during our stay. If you rent a cabin or or just go during the prime season you will avoid that problem and enjoy your stay greatly."
"The cabin was spacious, clean, and packed with amenities. The only downside is there is NO FREE WIFI. You have to purchase the package yourself. Laundry opens 24/7, and plenty of parking along the property."
"I absolutely love this resort and would highly recommend it!! The staff is super friendly and helpful. One staff member ran to open a door for me when I was bringing in my luggage. It was raining one day, so we spent the day at the spa. What an amazing experience. I never thought I would be glad it rained on a vacation day. Also, the restaurant is fantastic. My husband was talking about his meal days later. We look forward to coming back again someday."
