Hotel Granvia Wakayama
10/10 Excellent
"Amazing staff and wonderful amenities for a more than reasonable price.
Excellent location next to the station with convenient stores and restaurants nearby.
There’s also a wonderful free coffee service with an urban view if you have time to kill.
Highly recommended, as Wakayama is a hidden gem and worth a visit"
"Excellent location right on the bus line. Close to Wakayama Station and right across the street from the castle. Pay for a room on the castle side. It is worth it for the beautiful view. The rooms are very spacious, service is excellent, the entire property is well maintained and spotless. Even the self-serve laundry is great!"
"Did not use either the pool nor spa as we arrived quite late. We used the private open air bath, which was pleasant. The building is very old and our room on the lower level had a very musty smell covered by excessive camphor. The reception is on the 6th floor, and our room was on the first floor - very strange, with no elevator going to the lower levels. It made for a difficult and awkward descent and climb for me, as I have respiratory problems. While breakfast was generous, we found the price to be quite steep for a ryokan with no dinner included. The place is isolated, and we were told not to go out at night due to the presence of wild dogs. "
"Had an okay time here, it was a last minute booking because our Air BnB canceled day of check-in. We booked this hotel because of how close the Kansai Airport is (we were planning to taxi to the airport). We email the hotel 2 days in advance to ask if they could book a taxi for us and they emailed back saying that they could book a taxi for us no problem. There was no mention of a cut-off time for booking a taxi.
The day before we checked out we left the hotel at 7:30am for a Kyoto excursion and didn't get back to the hotel until 6:30pm. When we arrived at our room we found a piece of paper under the door staying that there is a 3pm cut-off time for booking a taxi.
Really disappointed that there was NO mention of this cut-off time previously anywhere. Our TVs could extend our check-out time yet even on them there was no mention of a cut-off time for booking a taxi.
