A few days before arrival, we were sent an email containing instructions for the property. These instructions were addressed to another individual and dated 2021, which seems to be an indication of the last time the property had any attention.
Arrival was fairly smooth, following the instruction sheet. The exterior of the house was somewhat worn, with sections of missing gutter, worn paint, and loose entry steps. Inside, both the garage and in the main living area were cluttered and dusty. It seems like the owners haven’t been to the property in quite a long time and the contract cleaning crews are doing only the minimum clean.
Linens were provided, along with towels and some kitchen staples, though the cupboards had a lot of expired food that hadn’t been gone through in some time, including items over 5 years expired. The lighting inside was very dim, with a dining room chandelier that doesn’t work.
We did have to get quite a few conenose bugs out of the upstairs bedrooms, and several spiders that had established webs elsewhere. The beds themselves were old and in need of new mattresses.
Additionally, there is an onsite tenant that wasn’t disclosed in the listing, and the shared wall between the tenant apartment and the upstairs bedroom is thin enough so you can hear conversation and phone calls word for word.
Despite this, the location was good and the stay generally peaceful. If a deep clean and maintenance and repairs done, I’d easily rate this property a 4/5.
