5/5 Excellent
Beautiful room, mainly let down by a cold bathroom
"I stayed for two nights as I was attending a number of the Tussock Country Festival events. I have stayed here before, under the previous ownership, as I find it very convenient for this being just out of the centre of Gore (so quieter) but close enough to make it easy to get in and out and with off-street parking too. The room (No.2) is beautiful, and the whole building still appears brand new. The room was well-equipped and beautifully-appointed. There was a bedside chest of drawers plus a small wardrobe cupboard for storage and a desk and chair for working at. Also a TV (which I didn't try), good WiFi, excellent quality free tea and coffee, bottled water and enough milk for my two-night stay. The bed was comfortable bed, no electric blanket but an electric heater to warm the room. Cups & saucers, mugs, one plate, one cereal bowl, one set of cutlery. The bathroom looked lovely, was fairly spacious, fully-tiled in marbled tiles, with a walk-in shower, washbasin and toilet but was very cold as there was no heating at all. I was also rather surprised that, despite there being no dishwashing facilities, my (rinsed) used crockery and cutlery were not washed or replaced during my stay despite being left in the washbasin. I knew about the cold bathroom from previous stays, so was prepared for that but this is the first time I have eaten in my room so I was very surprised by the lack of clean crockery and cutlery for "day 2". Nonetheless I will have no hesitation in staying again."
