The palace and overall property are magnificent, and every detail feels thoughtfully curated. The food and buffets selection was exceptional!!"

"We had changed from the Taj Lake to the Taj Palace because of a rude email, and it would seem the Taj group in general needs basic training in customer relations, as it was no better at this one. This was not a positive experience and as the restaurants are in public space, you get questioned with “what room are you,” when going back into the hotel. Sadly there seems to only be a focus on money but zero on guest experience. Pro- One kind guest relations officer who organized cough medicine for us. Cons- Accessibility prior to check in and post checkout. It got to the unbearable point. I was confused had I not paid to stay at this hotel? Increase rudeness by staff at gates, especially if you pay and go to museum. Had to prove we had been staying at hotel to get access back by one of the rudest people ever. Literally had to find the booking on my phone and show I was a guest of the hotel. This happened another two times. Why does the hotel not give you a day pass if you no longer have, or yet to have a room key. The windows of the room do not open so no fresh air. Left absolutely hating this experience and will never book with the Taj group ever again."

"The Verandah is excellent value in Udaipur. We booked a king size room with a balcony overlooking the lake. The views were wonderful. The room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was good with hot water for the shower. The restaurant was good and the breakfast including the coffee which was excellent. The location is ideal for visiting the city's key sites, many in walking distance or a short auto rickshaw drive away. It is located in an area that cars cannot access so you have to plan to use a rickshaw to reach the property. The staff were the highlight however. Pretty much everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. Nimmi at reception was a particular standout. She was cheerful and helpful on every occassion. Overall highly recommend this property!"

"Wonderful Escape , Fabulous Room, Amazing Pool, Great Breakfast, Lovely Staff . Shame there's No Bar or Restaurant however there's Loads of Food Options nearby. Great Location Close to the City Palace. Loved evey minute."

"Remember it’s 200 years old. Although this hotel is part of the maharaja’s Palace it is not in the category of a Taj or Shangri-La hotel. Once you have adjusted your expectations you will enjoy this experience. Rahul Paliwal manager at Shiv Niwas Palace Udaipur is worthy of special note. He understood my dilemma of comparing other 5 star hotels to his. He offered to upgrade our stay from Room 10 with mountain views and private terrace to room 6. A very palatial palace suite with study, formal entry, separate sitting room with huge walkin dressing room with very good lake views. Once we experienced this room we felt blessed. If you want to experience living with the current Maharaja and his family and gain a knowledge of life in a palace 400 years ago then you should spoil yourself. "

"Beautiful property, but furniture quality is not so good. Very aesthetic. Partial lake view is nothing as it is almost at the corner of the lake, so there is no lake. The lake seems like a village pond near this beautiful property. The property is instagramable - but reception staff does not allow to take video or pictures"
