A quiet, fairly residential location meant we weren't quite sure what to expect from this hotel. We were delighted. The room was the usual size but well appointed with a great powerful shower and unusually a heat lamp to help you stay cosy while getting dried! We ate in the restaurant and the food was enjoyable. Breakfast had a good selection of items too. We used the garage to park our cycles and the racks were easy to access and seemed secure. The town centre wasn't too far away and there was nice parkland nearby for walks.

Stayed 1 night at Sombea on the way to Switzerland and thought it was excellent. The restaurant and bar on property was great for dinner, drinks, and breakfast the following morning. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful and the hotel itself was in great condition. The only knock was that the air conditioning system was not working and although it wasn't hot, it was a bit muggy because of the rain we had that night. Still slept soundly but we could have been a bit more comfortable. By the time we discovered that it wasn't working, it was too late at night and there was no one to fix it. One excellent feature of the hotel was the on-property cigar lounge, although during our 1-night stay it was full of cigarette smokers. I would still highly recommend this hotel as a stopover on the way to somewhere else.

I stumbled upon Sombea during a trip through Southern Germany, and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in the area. The staff is helpful, the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the restaurant is delicious. If I find that my travels take be back to the Schwarzwald, I will be staying at Sombea again.

Nice colorful hotel. Location was fine. Do have to pay to park there. Good breakfast buffet. Only thing to be aware of, the shower is in the bedroom with no privacy. It was fine for us because we were married, but would depend on your booking situation.

Probably one of the best hotels I stayed since a couple of years. My room was cleaned very well, completely soundproofed and the mattress was very comfortable. I really appreciated the room design: the toilet is separated from the rest of the bath, and the shower has a glazed door facing the bed. Breakfast is included and is very varied, both sweet and savory. The staff was very considerate towards us. This property deserves to be included in Expedia's VIP offers.

Very crowded, not interesting neighbourhood, middle service, full of people at the breakfast, strange solution where you shower facing the bed, room not spacy (standard). No gym. Very standard. And for some reasons a bunch of dogs in the hotel - that was not common though
