"Lovely hotel with amazing views of Positano. Pleasant walk paths with exceptional views to the center of town, the beach, and ferry services. Great staff! Breakfast included. Conveniently located at a bus stop which is a very practical means of getting back up the side of the mountain to the property. Good air conditioning and wifi. Parking available at some cost but is still convenient."

Grand Hotel Excelsior Amalfi

"Staff was extremely helpful and understanding. Views were immaculate, room and bathroom were clean and nice. Only suggestion - read into the shuttle and book it for when you arrive to Amalfi, and reserve it and plan your ferry leaving ~60 minutes after you take the shuttle down (do this before you arrive). It's about a 40 minute walk down to sea-level and a grueling walk up if you're stupid like me and don't book the shuttle before you arrive, can't figure out a bus and were tight on time for my next attraction. Once you're at the hotel you'll feel settled because the staff has bus tickets, helpful advice on timelines and were just overall really helpful and kind."

"I wish they would have the pool open. It was very hot and it was a beautiful pool but you couldn’t use it because it wasn’t the summertime so my suggestion to them is that they opened up the pool a month earlier that’s just me."

"Gorgeous hotel, recently refurbished rooms, incredible service. The Don Geppi restaurant was a particular highlight! Photos honestly don't do it justice and the hotel was, unlike much of bustling Sorrento, very peaceful and tranquil"

"The hotel is not in Sorrento, but they operate a shuttle bus hourly. If you’re looking for town centre location, this is not for you. The hotel is set high above Sorrento and from the public spaces, commands sensational views across the Gulf of Naples, and an amazing view over Sorrento itself and Vesuvius! It’s a hard view to beat! The hotel & rooms are spotlessly clean, the bar and terrace all have amazing views and the swimming pool is lovely, although was almost bath temperature whilst we were there so ideal. We had partial sea view rooms with balcony on 1st floor (224 and 222 which our daughters had). The rooms really need updating as look very dated and the balcony and partial sea view were just not worth the extra money. Also no coffee/tea making facilities which is always a negative for me. However, beds were very comfortable and the rooms have AC. Restaurant was very good, although we ate quite simply (ie pasta!) and the bar was great - hotel prices obviously. Breakfast was excellent. Same dining room as dinner and a lovely space to eat in. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and found the staff to be plentiful and universally excellent, in particular the receptionists. Note on travel: it’s worth taking a taxi or using the hotel airport transfer service. Public transport looks good on paper, but the trains are rammed. We did a trip to Pompeii by train and it was so crowded we got an uber back to the hotel. Costly but money well spent!"
