"Overall, we were quite satisfied with our stay at Poppies.
When we first arrived, I was honestly a little shocked by how small the room was. It was even smaller than I had expected, and the facilities were extremely basic. There was no hair dryer, no microwave, and not even conditioner. The whole place has a very minimalist style, so if you are expecting a traditional hotel room with lots of amenities, this may take some getting used to.
However, after staying for a couple of days, we gradually got used to the small space and actually found the hotel quite practical. The staff were very friendly and helpful, which made a big difference.
The location also turned out to be more convenient than we initially thought. Bus 391 stops nearby and takes you directly to Zaanse Schans, which was perfect for our day trip to see the windmills. If you are a reasonably fast walker, you can also walk to Amsterdam Central Station in about 25 minutes.
Considering the price, especially compared with many hotels in Amsterdam, I think Poppies offers pretty good value for money. The room is definitely very small and the amenities are limited, but if you mainly need a clean, affordable place to sleep and don’t mind a minimalist setup, it’s a good choice.
