Resort & Winery Bosco De Medici

10/10 Excellent

"I wish I had been able to stay for longer! The location is slightly out of the way, but that is to be expected for the amenities, and it is well worth it. The station (closest station is Santuario), Pompeii entrance (closest is Anfiteatro) and drink/dining options are all still very walkable. It has everything you need if you want a relaxing few days. Equally, I found Pompeii a perfect base for a few days visiting Pompeii, the surrounding sites and Herculaneum (and would pick it over Naples/Sorrento etc). It was a wonderfully relaxing stay, with comfortable rooms, great beds, some/all rooms coming with personal outdoor spaces (I booked a Garden Room and it was well worth it), outdoor spaces and the pool/pool bar area – which comes with a view of Vesuvius. I particularly enjoyed working my way through the home grown wine menu. A special mention must go to the staff, who were all exceptionally friendly and helpful and could not have done more to make this an easy and enjoyable stay. In short, this was a little oasis during a busy holiday - I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Pompeii."

"This was a lovely locally run independant hotel. Our room was large with a balcony, there is a nice pool and great views. The only caveat would be that in my opinion you need a car. On a map the hotel isn't far from anything Pompeii, Herculaneum, Vesuvius, Sorrento, Napoli. The trains run frequently and are cheap, (about 3 euro or less per person per journey). The hotel is only 1 mile from the nearest station. However, it's not a nice walk up streets that are not all paved or lit and motorbikes in particular drive fast. The hotel does offer a free shuttle but it has to be pre booked which means you have to know always in advance where you are going and when you will be back. Taxi's are few and far between and are expensive (30+Euro for just a few miles, if you can find one). It didn't work for us and we ended up booking a hotel for 1 night in Sorrento so we could stay late and have a meal and a drink without watching the clock. If you plan to have a hire car or to drive I recommend this place otherwise if you want to explore the area I recommend Napoli or Sorrento"

"Clean room although the shower could use some attention (some mold). Breakfast was included and offered a wide variety of options. Front desk staff was very helpful - was able to negotiate a late check out and scheduled a car service. Only downside was a very uncomfortable box spring mattress."

"The place is ideally located minutes from Pompei archeological museum and train station. We got simple, clean room, facing parking lot. Pleasant reception person allowed us to check in ahead of time. Tasty buffet breakfast is served at near hotel. Unusual problem was with... mosquitos in a room. We managed to get rid of majority of them, still have a few buzzing around during the night."

"The hotel is very clean and recently renovated. The big advantage was the location. It is at the heart of Pompeii, restaurants, the piazza and the back entrance to the Pompeii park. The train station is across the street but sadly the service is limited but very convenient when serviced."
